Back in July a customer approached us to share an idea they had for a mobile application intended for use within the hospitality sector. The mobile app would be downloaded and installed by hotel guests before or during check-in.
Once installed the hotel guest would be presented with various facilities available at the hotel they are staying in.
Facilities include but not limited to:
Welcome Pack - this would replace the paper based welcome info pack received during check-in at most hotels.
Events - browse and book upcoming events or entertainment
Room Service - browse room service menu's and order via the app
Dining - browse restaurant menus
Service Bookings - custom services offered by the specific hotel or chain
The app is coupled with a web application that allows hotel staff to update the app contents using the built in CMS. It also offers the flexibility to configure channels which route requests to the correct member of staff depending on the type of service being received.
It's taken us 10 weeks (6 sprints) to release the first implementation which is ready for market.
